As a partner and Chief Operating Officer of Fathom Advisors, Todd has a hand in both the financial lives of his clients and the long-term direction of the firm serving them. He helps lead Fathom with the same care, discipline, and long-term outlook he brings to client relationships—giving him perspective on what it means to build something that endures.
As an advisor, Todd brings clarity and structure to his clients’ financial lives so they can make confident, informed decisions without getting lost in complexity. He works to ensure each piece of a client’s financial picture is aligned with their broader goals, creating a sense of purpose and direction that supports both their present needs and long-term plans.
Planning Specialty
Todd focuses on serving successful professionals who have worked hard, are doing well, but simply don’t have the time or specialized knowledge to make sure every piece of their financial life is working together. They value having someone they trust to worry about it for them—particularly as their financial decisions become more complex.
A particular focus of Todd’s work is executive compensation and benefit strategies. He helps clients manage and understand how deferred compensation fits into their broader plan and coordinate those decisions tax-efficiently.
Todd considers all of this alongside the full picture of his clients’ financial lives, incorporating areas like wealth preservation, retirement planning, charitable giving, tax strategy, and investments. Rather than addressing each decision in isolation, he helps clients make sure all the pieces work together and stay aligned with what they’re ultimately trying to accomplish.
His Approach
Todd wants clients to understand the “why” behind the decisions they make, not simply follow a recommendation. His background as a teacher influences the way he works today: he takes complicated financial concepts and makes them easier to understand, giving clients enough context to feel confident about what they are doing and why. Some clients want to stay closely involved, while others prefer to delegate complexity; Todd is comfortable either way and ensures they remain informed and in control of the big picture. As a Behavioral Financial Advisor™, he also pays close attention to the emotional side of money and helps clients avoid reactive decisions that can quietly derail an otherwise good plan.
Professional Background
Todd grew up on a dairy farm in Central Minnesota, where hard work, follow-through, and taking care of people were part of daily life. Throughout his career and across different professions, those values have remained foundational for Todd.
He started his career in education, serving as a teacher and wrestling coach for the Mounds View School District. During those five years, the classroom strengthened his ability to explain complex ideas simply and patiently, while coaching reinforced the value of preparation, accountability, and helping others make steady progress.
Drawn to the opportunity to help people navigate one of the most consequential and often stressful parts of their lives, Todd entered the financial industry in 2007. He started as a paraplanner, learning the profession from the ground up, and became an advisor the following year. In 2018, he became an owner and partner at Fathom Advisors and today serves as COO in addition to advising clients.

Community Involvement
As a former teacher and coach, Todd has seen firsthand the confidence and discipline young people can develop when they have opportunities to participate in sports and other activities. That experience has encouraged him to support organizations like the Special Olympics, Edina Youth Wrestling, and the Edina Athletic Booster Club, where he previously served on the board.
He and his family also support organizations focused on caring for children and neighbors in need, including Ronald McDonald House, Gillette Children’s Hospital, Feed My Starving Children, and Loaves and Fishes. Todd is also a former board member of H2O For Life.
Life Outside the Office
Todd and his wife Mary have lived in Edina since 2007. Both grew up in Central Minnesota and met during their first year of teaching at Highview Middle School. Today, they have two children, Troy and Camille, and a dog named Lutsen, named after the Northeastern Minnesota town near their cabin.
Travel is one of the family’s favorite ways to spend time together. They have explored destinations as far as Kenya and France and particularly enjoy visiting U.S. national parks like Yellowstone, the Badlands, and the Grand Tetons. For Todd, the appeal is less about the destination and more about the time spent together creating memories.
Closer to home, most of Todd’s free time is spent with family and friends—golfing, enjoying sporting events, or visiting their cabin.
