Transition
Independence
Fathom Advisors is excited to announce our transition to becoming an independent Registered Investment Advisor (RIA), effective September 16th, 2026.
FAQs
Why did you choose to establish an independent firm?
In short, we made this move for you. As an independent RIA, our team has greater freedom and flexibility in how we serve you. We can choose the technology, tools, platforms, and investment solutions we believe are best for you, rather than being limited to the resources of a single brokerage firm.
Who will the new custodian be?
We chose Charles Schwab after extensive research and a rigorous selection process. As one of the largest and most established financial services firms in the country, Schwab offers the strength, security, technology, and account protections you deserve. They bring decades of experience, a robust compliance record, and top-tier cyber-security infrastructure.
Why didn’t you share this with me earlier?
Due to our Franchise Agreement, we were legally prohibited from sharing our news until after we resigned from our former firm.
What happens to my investments, and how long does the transfer take?
Most investments will transfer to Schwab as-is. Transfers are typically completed within 10 business days, and our team will guide you through each step.
Will I have to pay account closing fees?
We will cover any account closure fees.
Are you still regulated?
Yes. We are a Registered Investment Advisor (RIA) firm regulated and registered with the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC).
Your Next Steps
Our goal in becoming an independent RIA is to provide you with the best possible service. So throughout our transition, we’re here to do everything we can to make things as seamless as possible for you. Transitioning your accounts is easy, and you can do it in three simple steps:
Talk to your Advisor
If you haven’t already, you will hear from your advisor soon. It’s important to us that we answer your questions.
Schedule Your Virtual Transition Meeting
You can reach out via phone or email to schedule your transition call. The call will take around 15-30 minutes. We will need your account statement and a few other documents. We recommend using your computer, as this is the easiest method for gathering documents.
We prepare forms
We will prepare all new account forms and transfer forms for you and send them to you for electronic signature. Review and sign the forms, and your account transfer will begin.
